A New Centre for KSD Edinburgh
Thanks to the blessings of the Buddha and the combined efforts of all concerned, we are delighted to announce that Kagyu Samye Dzong Edinburgh has purchased a fine property at 4 Walker Street in the heart of Edinburgh's West End. This will become the new KSD Edinburgh Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre for World Peace and Health.
Both Akong Tulku Rinpoche and Lama Yeshe Rinpoche are very pleased and will do what they can to help but it is up to us to make the most of this opportunity and contribute whatever we can to fully realising their vision.
As well as providing a much needed place of prayer and meditation for followers of Tibetan Buddhism, the new Centre will be open to people of all ages, beliefs and backgrounds as a veritable oasis of peace and health in the heart of the city. Proposed activities will include:
- Buddhist teachings and prayers
- Mindfulness Meditation classes
- Tai Chi, Qigong and Yoga classes
- Interfaith Gatherings and Seminars
- Public talks, cultural and social events
- Daily Mind and Body Gym
- Alternative Health Therapies & Low Cost Clinic
- Tibetan Medical Clinic
- Free School and OAP group visits
- Rokpa Charity work
- Practice and preservation of Tibetan Arts
- Tibetan Tea Room and Shop facilities
The new building will be used as offices by the current tenants until the summer of 2010. This is very helpful as the rental income will help towards paying our loan and allow us time to raise funds for refurbishment. The property is an elegant Georgian townhouse in good condition but will still need considerable work to turn it into a beautiful Centre with all necessary amenities. Please join us in bringing this wonderful project to fruition by completing our donation form.
Together we can make it happen!
